Do You Know How Terms Come To Be So Popular In The Haitian Creole.

What are their origins, in what context were they first used, for what purpose, by whom, etc. We have collected just a few that we know of. We hope that you will help us by adding any other terms you might know of, and their original meaning and explanation:

(Haitian Creole) -  "Bayacou"
(Original Meaning) - "Army Barrak"
(Explanation) - During the time of slavery, when a slave was kidnapped in Africa, he/she would be incarcerated in an army barrak. In that barrak, the slave is obligated to do everyting there. The people responsible to remove the slaves at night for the barrak for shipping were called "Bayaco". This persisted in Haiti to the point where anyone who goes into a hole to clean fesses is called "Bayacou"

(Haitian Creole) - "Macici"
(Original Meaning) "Vien Masse par ici" or "Vien Masse ici"
(Explanation) - During colonization, the white man would occasionally call a slave boy and ask him to give him a massage in a particular, sometimes very private part of his body.

(Haitian Creole) "Chin Chin"
(French) "Un plat de Mais"
(Explanation) -During slavery, when it was time to feed the slaves, the master would say " Tien, Tien" (Meaning: Take, here). And since most of the time they would be fed with corn, the slaves associated "Tien Tien" with :Chin Chin", meaning "Corn Meal"

(Haitian Creole) "Kadejak"
(English) "Rape"
(Explanation) - From what I was told, it was the first rape case that went to court in Haiti, where Jack was accused of raping a woman

Do you know how the following expression is translated in Haitian-Creole?:

(French) "Que les colons get ta mere"
(Explanation) -Again during slavery, the master would constantly rape the slave females. That became a way of cursing each other when slaves were arguing among themselves.
